On the morning of Thursday May 6, 2010 Oswego Fire Protection District Firefighter/Paramedic Keith Clancy spearheaded an "Operation Prom" event at Oswego East high school. The school's prom is set for Saturday the 8th, and the idea behind "operation prom" is to hopefully get the students to think first.
The event consisted of a two vehicle accident with some passenger's having been ejected from the vehicles and others entrapped and needing extrication by the fire department.

All the while the police officers worked the accident scene, questioned passengers and took into custody an intoxicated prom student identified as the driver of one of the vehicles. Another student passenger suffered severe life-threatening injuries and was tranported to the nearest trauma center by Lifestar's helicopter and air medical flight team.
.
And lastly, the Kendall County Coroner was called to the scene to take possession of two student passengers that lost their life at the scene of the accident - the Coroner also notifies the families of the deceased of the tragedy.
.
All this played out in the high school parking lot like a play in front of approximately 700-900 members of the junior and senior class while Firefighter/Paramedic Clancy narrated the action for the crowd and provided teen driver and accident statistics. The morning was summed up when Assistant Principal Seput implored the students to "Think before you drink. Or better yet, don't drink at all!"
