Message From The Chief
As the Chief of the Oswego Fire Protection District, I want to welcome you to our website. Our fire protection district was formed by voter referendum in 1936. Since that time, both the community and the fire protection district have seen many changes. In its infancy, the department was all volunteer. Today, the Oswego Fire Protection District is staffed 24/7/365 with career personnel, running roughly 6,700 calls for service per year.
The Oswego Fire Protection District Mission Statement says, “The Oswego Fire Protection District will provide the highest quality service and strive to challenge ourselves to achieve the greatest potential for those we serve.” Our members embody what this means. Rest assured our fulltime firefighter/paramedics are trained to the highest level in all facets of Emergency Services, including firefighting, emergency medical services, and special operations.
Our members take great pride in serving our community. When we are not busy responding to incidents or striving to challenge ourselves to achieve our greatest potential, our members routinely participate in many community events, provide public education, and educate the community on fire prevention. Being a firefighter/paramedic is so much more than just showing up on an ambulance or fire apparatus for an incident. They conduct life safety inspections, install car seats, and teach CPR. Our organization is all encompassing, and we take our mission very seriously.
